The taping technique involves applying surgical tape to the nose, following specific steps to maintain its shape and reduce swelling.
Why nasal taping?
This technique is recommended after removing nasal splints, to be worn continuously for one week and then at night for three weeks. It is not mandatory but helps to reduce post-operative swelling.
It is also recommended in cases of size variation of the nose between morning and evening. This can occur within the first three months after surgery. In such cases, the nose swells at night (while lying down) and reduces in size during the day (while standing).
Applying strips at night can help decrease morning swelling.
You will find a method to do this in the video below.
The tape used is hypoallergenic and designed to be gentle on the skin. We recommend using 1.25 cm flesh-colored Micropore Ⓡ tape.
